What Is a Downsize and Why Do I Need One? After your piercing, we initially fit a longer bar to allow room for swelling. Once the swelling has settled, the bar becomes too long and can cause problems like irritation, catching, or delayed healing. This is where a downsize comes in — we replace the longer bar with a shorter one that fits snugly and supports healthy healing. For most piercings, you'll need a downsize at 4–6 weeks. For oral piercings (like tongue or lip), we recommend downsizing at 2 weeks, as swelling usually settles faster. Leaving the long bar in too long can cause: Excess movement Angle changes Lumps or bumps Longer healing times Risk of rejection or migration We’ll let you know when to come back at your appointment. There may be a small charge for the new jewellery depending on the piece chosen. If you're not sure whether it's time yet, pop us a message or call into the studio and we’ll be happy to advise.
Cancellation Policy
Late Policy Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled and your booking fee will be non-refundable. This is because we prepare sterile setups for each client, and delays affect the schedule and safety standards. Reschedule Policy We understand plans can change. If you need to move your appointment, you must reschedule at least 72 hours in advance. Your booking fee can then be carried over to your new appointment date. If less than 72 hours’ notice is given, your booking fee will be lost and a new fee will be required to book again. Booking Fee Policy All booking fees are final and non-refundable. Your booking fee secures your appointment and covers the cost of preparing a sterile setup specifically for you. If you need to reschedule, you must do so at least 72 hours before your appointment — we’ll carry your booking fee over once. If you cancel, don’t show up, or give less than 72 hours’ notice, your booking fee will be lost and a new one will be required to book again. ID Policy For clients under 16, a parent or legal guardian must attend the appointment. You’ll need to bring one of the following: Both the parent’s and child’s birth certificates, or The child’s birth certificate plus official proof of legal guardianship/adoption (e.g., adoption papers or court-issued guardianship documents), or Both passports (parent and child) with the same surname. If you’re lucky enough to look under 18, please bring valid photo ID — we operate a strict Challenge 21 policy. Important: If you fail to bring the correct ID to your appointment, it will be cancelled and your booking fee will be non-refundable. Age Policy If you’re under 16, you must bring a parent or legal guardian — we can’t perform any piercings without their consent in person and the correct ID (see our ID Policy above).
